Speculation Can Be Your friends - Heroes spoiler discussion

October 6th, 2008 (08:39 am)

Yes, I know I have a spoiler habit, i need help, I'm working no it. Damn NBC summaries getting me off the wagon. :(

Okay... so i've never been too into posting my spoiler ideas here. I will bring them up on message boards if it comes up, but mostly I end up Pming [info]by7the7sea</lj>  or  [info]fangirljen</lj>.

But after a few of my major ideas came true, and encouragement by Jenthefangirl, here i am.

Now another reason I don't do it, is I don't think these are the absolute facts, I just have a good feeling it all COULD go that way, so I won't be surprised if it doesn’t, it's just one of the many ideas that could happen.

And a lot of the time my ideas are based on quotes from actors and my knowledge of themes and structure and sometimes that's hard to explain, it's just a gut thing, but after this, I have been encouraged to post.

This being after, a few months ago this was an PM I sent[info]fangirljen

, who can attest to that (after reading an interview with Milo and the fact that everyone said the characters already knew the character)

Me: "I know this sounds really weird, but I think Arthur is the big bad?"

Her: "That is crazy."

Me: "I know! I don't even know how I feel about it, but it seems like what they are saying." (Especially since I wanted him to be dead... but not anymore BTW)

And well it led from there, with the thought he had to be running Pinehearst. So here we go.

Things I've predicted that seem like they are true

~Arthur is the big bad and running Pinehearst

~ Tracy and Niki are clones. The Company implanted the "clone eggs", ala Dolly the sheep, (see wiki, if you don’t know how they do it) into women who gave birth to the children, thinking they were their own. This let the Company see how powers develop.  It's testing Nature vs Nurture. Each clone is genetically the same person, but based on who brought them up and the environment they all developed different powers, manifested differently.

The cold, rich girl, who pushes in her emotions had an ICE power.

The girl from an abusive home got super strength.

This was because  the theme of Nature vs Nuture in the upcoming season AND hearing that Ali was playing a new character ireminded me of the movie/book  Anne to the infiite Power

In the movie/book (Check the link for more detail) all the clones have different personalities based on growing up in different places with different people.

When I knew I was right?: What seems to suggest they writers are paying homage to the cult movie/book in some respect. On Heroes AND in the movie/book the doctor's name was... wait for.... Zimmerman.

Jen and I had a little freak out. lol.

~ In the future specials are hunted for their adrenaline and  experimented on so everyone can have powers. Man’s pension for greed and power make them always looking for a fix and much like the tobacco industry Pinehearst helps normal people get powers. I bet they go into a clinic, fill out their forms, and pay a large sum of money.  This can only lead to the human race killing each other or perhaps in a freindly fight at the courner bar accidently break the world in two. lol.

~Future Claire works for Pinehearst (she has a pin from Pinhearst on her label)

~Nathan, Tracy and Mohinder will all work together thinking they are helping the world by finding a serum to give people powers, or at least to find out the origins. They end up causing the bad future, all along thinking they are doing good.  They get taken in my Arthur and his Company.

This is based on Mohinder having scenes with Arthur. Niki, Tracy and Mohinder's storyline coming together by many accounts. Adrian Pasdar's comment that whose to say he has a nemesis, "Maybe I'm someone else's nemesis."

And the whole series, which shows that time just reheals itself and gets back on course. In the future Nathan isn't on Peter's side, Peter sees Nathan as a bad man.  "Where i come from you had a different future. But now you're on the path to becoming the brother I looked up to."

Nathan (and most of the audience) see's his father as the good one and his mother has the bad one, so he will side with his father for a while. But in the end see his mother is on the good side and his father wants to profit over

Not as much proof yet, but seems to connect
~Angela gave Bridget's power to Sylar for a reason, he NEEDs that power for his journey, hopefully to prove who she is to him. Perhaps give Sylar a new perspective on things...?

But most importantly. I predict it's a device to get us into the episode 8 flashback. I think after his encounter with Sylar, Peter will take on the touch power and at some point will come into contact with some of his mother's jewelry or an object... I'm gonna guess the ring since she wears it all the time.

~In the end Nathan (and Peter) will see their mother is on the right side of this one. Perhaps causing Nathan to be somehow responsible for his father's death (I really hope they don't kill him, but how do you win over such a powerful guy) which will bring him much guilt.

Too far away to really have Proof
If Heroes is famous for trying to change the dynamic on us, have our characters be in new and different positions then for three seasons HRG was always be the hunter, in control.

If Vol 4 is going to have a Tommy Lee Jones like character from the fugitive, an FBI agent on the hunt for someone, like a hunger. It makes me think. Will HRG be the hunted this time? Just a thought. Don't know how I feel about it yet, he was on the run already, but I can see how the writers would want to change the dynamic.

Also...

Anyone find it very telling that Angela is the influence that turns Sylar into a good guy and away from her he was evil, it's like he's become Peter in the future - the one Angela raised.

I sooo love it! You know what I think about many of these topics and you know I agree with you basically on everything. I really like the Nature VS Nurture one,it reminded me of my Social Anthropology course and I can say it's sooo true about people!
Also,I adore the specs about the dynamics into THE family! Specially your last thought about Sylar and Angela, but also Nathan and Arthur. You should really try to apply as a screenwriter for the show!

Morally grey

Your so nice. Its harder to apply as a writer to the show then you think. First I'd have to write a script for another show, it's called a spec script.

This is for legal reasons they can't read anything that could get them sued, even if something similar appears on the show.

That's interesting! I would love to see this happen.

So you think HRG will be the hunted? lol, these villains are dying fast, I don't know who's going to chase him. XD

Coffee Petrellis

Lol on your icon.

He would be chased by the FBI Agent ala the fugitive - that's the character for vol 4 they are asking.

I'm very excited about the touch power so I'm glad you like my thought process. I'm actually very disappointed they haven't already told us WHY she gave him that power. So he knows she is telling the truth? To make him better at his job? If she just fed him to feed him I'll be very disappointed.

morally grey awesomess

..and lol on my prior comment, I sometimes do that mistake...

she just fed him to feed him I'll be very disappointed.

..you don't like this because this would make her plain evil, right? XD And wow..nobody's talking about how brutal that was...

And I know nothing about this FBI Agent, guh, how did I miss it?

Team Angela

.you don't like this because this would make her plain evil, right? XD And wow..nobody's talking about how brutal that was...

They are on TWOP, many people who liked her hate her now and say she's nonredeemable. It's bad, evil, bad, I was shocked, wow, great, wow, crazy!! But she's doing it to save the world. I just can't see Angela feeding him from now on, ya know. I just hope it doesn't go there. If it were lighting or any power but THAT power I'd say "Oh, she was just feeding him get his confience" That power is too specific.

Vol 4 Fugitives is looking for an actor to play a Tommy Lee Jones FBI agent type like in The Fugitive. I wonder if he kills someone at the end of the vol, or really anyone does and certain people are on the run. I'm thinking someone kills Arthur, maybe even Nathan, but I would like Arthur to stick around.

ball tossing

You know I'll never hate her but still, she was just happy when she heard the screams..She wasn't like Angela. I mean, when HRG killed Ivan, we knew that he knew he did a very "bad" thing and we all knew that he was a "true" murderer. But Angela in that scene...

Mama's Boys

Why does no one notice this!? The only other person who saw this was the reviewer for buddy TV!

She was smiling (which yes seems unlike her) THEN she hears the scream, she pauses and then her face changes completely, its held in emotional, she becomes steel.

It effects her.

Look - the top is before the screen and the bottom is after.

I noticed that too upon a second viewing (with my sister). I was going to mention it but I forgot.

But still I agree with you, she better not have just fed him to feed him.

I certainly never saw she was smiling.

Mama's Boys

Thank you. Its simple acting. Pauses and changes an express when you hear something means you are effected by it.

Don't hate me for saying this but I think she's like, "OK, that was fun. Now let's be serious and let's get back to work." I wished they've done something different with that scene. She passed way beyond that moral greyness line.

Cautionary Tales

Acting 101: And I'm talking about anything I learned in class, it's just the way it is - you change what your doing when something happens, you pause, your effected by it. And stand by this firmly. Its a big thing for me and I DO NOT condone what she did at all - it was pure evil - but Angela sold her soul long ago to " save the world" what's one more log on the fire.

If she had done that with out the scream, I would agree with you, but as soon as she heard the screen she paused - she was effected by it - how maybe that's a quibble, but I don't think she thought it was fun.

But let's see what happens, if they NEVER shows us that power was given on purpose, okay, but it's not like she did it for a lark. If she just did it for fun okay and yes she's right up against that line. WOW, but her goal is to use him to save the world. And this is Heroes.

Maybe we can't talk about it.

chibi no initials

I understand what you mean and I believe that the characters have the right to do bad things, but still..well, we'll wait and see what happens next.
I agree with you, I hope it's not just about feeding. I don't think it is, the writers are more clever than that.

Really nice, these sound like some fun theories.

I think what I miss the most about this, and this applies to last season a little bit, was how average all the characters problems were. Matt needs to make the rent and his wife is cheating on him, Hiro needs to prove himself to his father... now it's all clones and the world exploding and formulas, I know that was always an element of it, but I guess I miss the other half of it.

Yeah, I agree, but I think the clones and the formula won't be as much as you think, meaning I think the humanity of the situation will still be there. I hope. I guess because I find the storyline of the clones and formula actually interesting in what we've seen so far, I like how they revealing it so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, but it they go too sci-fiy it will turn me off. Another reason I'm glad the virus storyline was cut.

Flashback

This is probably totally irrelevant, but while reading your discussion about whether or not Angela was effected by the screams, it brought to mind HRG and Isaac. The Company was trying to help Isaac, but when he wasn't able to paint what HRG needed, HRG insisted that Eden give him the drugs again. Doing the wrong thing for the right ... well a good reason?

Yeah, just a totally random thought.
